Two men riding a motorcycle, armed with AK47 have stormed Kensington police post in Kyanja, a Kampala suburb in the wee hours of Monday.
However, they were repelled by police officers manning the post in a heavy gunfire exchange.
The gunmen according to police officials at the post then retreated and rode their motorcycle using a shortcut to the main road and disappeared.
Kensington police post is located on the main road after Prime Petrol station, 200 meters before Kyanja center.
The police post is near Komamboga bars which ADF terrorists attacked last year.
“Our boys were alert. They fired bullets as the attackers responded. Good enough no one is injured. Our boys survived,” said an official.
This becomes the third attack on Police after Busika where unknown gunmen killed two cops and burnt the station . In Ntoroko district suspected rebels kidnapped two marine cops last week.
The gunmen behind Monday morning attack remain unknown.
Kensington police post was briefly cordoned off as police officers conducted investigations.
No police official was willing to speak on record saying the matter is sensitive.
Police spokesperson CP Fred Enanga was not available for a comment by press time.
The wave of the attacks on police stations in the country was attributed to new rebel groups that are targeting guns.
This is a developing story..
