State Minister for Investment Evelyn Anite has spoken out on reports circulating on social media suggesting that she has lost NRM primaries to Charles Ayume.
Anite confirms that indeed she has lost and will concede defeat because politics isn’t a do or die.
“This election has been full of chaos. My agents have been beaten up, they have ferried people to come and disorganize us,” she said on phone.
Asked if she will petition the party over the irregularities, Anite said she will not but rather accept the loss because politics isn’t a matter of life and death.
Anite further told this website that she will not contest as independent candidate..”For what? I will won’t.”
Anite was seeking a reelection as Koboko Municipality MP. She faced off Dr Charles Ayume the son of late Francis Ayume.
Anite maintains that even her rival know how popular she is that is why he decided to use violence to win the primaries.
“Standing as an independent is against the party rules. I still abide by the party rules.”
Provisional results indicate that Dr Ayume garnered 8089 votes while Anite got 7321.
