Museveni addresses Parliament on State of Security

President Yoweri Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni this afternoon addressed the nation on the state of security. The President gave assurance that the security agencies were working on full-throttle plans that would end crime, insecurity and any other disturbances to the citizens
Dressed in a yellow shirt- the NRM party colors, the president started off with a brief history of colonialism that divided colonies and created states while alienating tribes against each other.
“The Colonialists divided Africa like a cake. This created instability among African people who now had to belong to different nations” the President said.
He cited the fights between Bunyoro King Kabalega and tribes from Congo.
The President also agreed to meet parliament to discuss specific security issues with the legislators after the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga requested for a special sitting with the head of state.
“We have a place we can meet outside here. There is State House Entebbe. You are free to come and meet there. I am sorry for those who are allergic to State House. There is also a hall in this Parliament building that we can use to meet” the President assured MPs.
Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga who chaired the special sitting asked MPs to feel free to sit anywhere.
Ordinarily, MPs from the opposition sit separately from the ruling NRM party.
Sending the MPs into shameful laughter, the President who took over 15 minutes of his speech talking about Uganda’s a pre-colonial history said he had decided to educate the MPs about our history since they spent most of their time abroad.
“I have decided to give you a brief history of our nation because you spend most of your time in Europe” the President said sending the MPs in uncontrolled laughter.
Museveni said peace and security cannot be traded or joked with. “Those criminals distabilising our country with guns will be crashed”  the President said
