Angella Kayihura, wife to jailed UPDF General Kale Kayihura has Monday disputed reports that she is in touch with her husband.
The army last week announced that Kayihura who was arrested on Wednesday is being detained at Makindye barracks and is at liberty to meet his family and lawyers.
It later emerged that renowned city criminal lawyer Caleb Alaka will represent the beleaguered soldier once he is produced in the court martial.
But his wife issued a statement crying out that ever since her husband was arrested, she is yet to meet him.
“This is to inform the general public that neither General Kale Kayihura nor any member of his family has met.”
Angella, further in her communiqué expresses unawareness of Lawyer Alaka as Kayihura’s legal representative.
“We have not talked to or instructed Mr. Evans Ochieng or Mr. Caleb Alaka or their law firm, to represent Gen Kayihura as alleged in the media, or at all.”
Angella, who last week was rumoured to have been arrested, endorses M/s Kampala Associated Advocates as Kayihura’s legal officers.
“Gen Kayihura’s and our only lawyers are M/s Kampala Associated Advocates. Gen Kayihura’s lawyers and his family have todate had unfettered access to him. Todate, neither Gen. Kayihura nor any member of his family have instructed any lawyer to file any application in any court, for any purpose. Statements to that effect are false and should be ignored.
