Two men have Thursday been arrested by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) officers in a Kampala suburb of Ntinda after they were caught live preserving meat with a concoction of chemicals.
Earlier in the day KCCA launched an operation across the city to ascertain whether butcheries were meeting required public health standards.
9 meat selling stalls were shutdown in Kalerwe and Ntinda town centres. KCCA announced the operation is on going for several days in Kampala.
This followed shocking media reports that butcherers in the city resorted to using formalin a chemical used in morturies to preserve dead bodies.
TrumpetNews has since learnt that Kayondo and Ssekabila who operate from Ntinda have been arrested and detained and finding them mixing chemicals with meat.
