Boda boda riders in Kampala and Wakiso have thrown their weight behind the upcoming birthday run organized in honor of Muhoozi Kainerugaba, pledging to actively participate in the event aimed at supporting vulnerable people without caregivers.

The riders made the commitment during the unveiling of the official birthday run jersey, an event presided over by Major General Christopher Damulira, who represented President Yoweri Museveni.

Delivering the President’s message, Gen. Damulira urged boda boda operators to make prudent use of funds accessed through their SACCOs, cautioning that any misuse would not be tolerated.

He also addressed growing concerns about criminal activity within sections of the boda boda community, revealing that security agencies have intensified operations targeting individuals involved in crime, including those dealing in stolen motorcycle spare parts.

He warned that those found culpable would face the full force of the law.

Despite these concerns, Gen. Damulira commended the majority of boda boda riders for maintaining discipline, particularly in observing traffic regulations and cooperating with law enforcement agencies.

He noted that their role in urban transport remains vital and encouraged them to continue upholding professionalism.

The general further rallied the wider public to take part in the birthday run, emphasizing its humanitarian focus on aiding individuals who lack caregivers and support systems.

He highlighted that Gen. Muhoozi, in his capacity as Chief of Defence Forces, has spearheaded several national initiatives, including campaigns against corruption and crime, as well as broader development programs aimed at improving the welfare of Ugandans.

The birthday run is expected to attract thousands of participants from across the country, combining fitness, solidarity, and charity in a bid to uplift vulnerable communities.
