Fresh from the success of the Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Free Eye Camp in Bukedea, the Ruparelia Foundation has announced a new humanitarian campaign — a Free Prosthetic Leg Donation Drive aimed at restoring mobility and dignity to vulnerable Ugandans.

The initiative, set to run from May 1 to 3, 2026, will take place at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala.

Organised in memory of the late businessman and philanthropist Rajiv Ruparelia, the campaign seeks to support individuals living with limb loss by providing free prosthetic legs, enabling them to regain independence and improve their quality of life.

The foundation said the programme is part of its broader mission to extend Rajiv’s legacy of compassion, service and community transformation through impactful interventions.

The prosthetic drive follows a highly successful three-day eye camp in Bukedea, where over 500 surgeries were conducted and thousands of patients received free treatment, marking one of the largest community medical outreaches in the region.

Under the theme “Restoring Hope. Changing Lives,” the upcoming campaign is expected to attract beneficiaries from across the country, particularly those who have been unable to access prosthetic services due to high costs.

The initiative is being conducted in partnership with Mulago National Referral Hospital, bringing together medical experts and specialists to deliver quality care.

Officials say the programme will not only provide prosthetic limbs but also restore confidence, mobility and economic opportunity for beneficiaries.

The Ruparelia Foundation has in recent years expanded its footprint in community support programmes, with a focus on healthcare, youth empowerment and social welfare.

With the launch of the prosthetic leg drive, the foundation continues to build on Rajiv Ruparelia’s legacy, transforming lives not just through remembrance, but through practical, life-changing action.
