Police in Nateete has arrested a 34-year-old woman in connection with a disturbing case of child torture involving a 10-year-old boy in Kanaala Zone, Mutundwe Parish, Bunamwaya Division, Wakiso District.
The suspect, identified as Esther Nankunda, is currently in custody as investigations continue into the incident that has shocked the local community.
According to preliminary police findings, the victim a Primary Four pupil had been left under the care of the suspect by her brother.
However, what was meant to be a safe environment allegedly turned into a scene of abuse.
It is reported that on Eid Day, March 20, 2026, at around 5:00 PM, Nankunda accused the child of stealing shs 100,000.
In a cruel act of punishment, she allegedly used a heated white polythene bag to burn the boy’s hands.
The minor was later rescued and taken for medical examination, where injuries consistent with torture were documented.

Police have since condemned the act, describing it as inhumane and unacceptable.
The suspect remains in detention and is expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice for the young victim while warning guardians and caregivers against resorting to violence under the guise of discipline.
