Museveni Nomination: 1 million Supporters march to Kololo to “Protect Your Gains”

Kololo turned yellow

After his nomination, NRM supporters poured into Kololo Independence Grounds for what turned into a carnival-like rally marking the official launch of Museveni’s 2026 campaigns.

The expansive grounds were awash with yellow, music, and chants as different mobilization groups showcased their support.

Among them were the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), ghetto youth brigades, NRM parliamentary flagbearers, and the “Silent Majority” led by musician-turned-political mobilizer Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool. Boda Boda SACCOs and other grassroots structures also turned up in force, highlighting the diverse coalition the ruling party is rallying behind the President.

Museveni’s campaign is hinged on ‘protect your gains’

From the stage, Museveni reiterated his central campaign message — that Uganda has already doubled its GDP from $34 billion to $66 billion under his leadership, and the next phase will deliver “a bigger economic leap” alongside social transformation.

“We have secured peace, we have built the roads, we have put up the electricity lines, and now investors are coming in,” Museveni told the cheering crowd. “The next step is to ensure every Ugandan enjoys the fruits of this growth — with free education, reliable medicine in hospitals, and safe water in every village.”

Musician Bebe Cool is a known diehard of President Museveni

Bebe Cool and other entertainers kept the crowd energized with music performances, blending political mobilization with entertainment — a trademark of Museveni’s campaign launches. PLU youth leaders emphasized loyalty to the President, while Boda Boda SACCOs pledged to “ride the campaign” into every parish and trading center across the country.

As dusk approaches, Museveni will officially unveil his campaign under the banner “Protecting the Gains, Accelerating Transformation.” Party leaders described the slogan as a reflection of both the economic milestones already achieved and the promise of faster development if he secures another mandate in 2026.
