Sudhir unveils RR Pearl Tower One in Tribute to Late Son Rajiv

RR Pearl Tower One

Kampala’s skyline has gained a new landmark with the unveiling of RR Pearl Tower One, a Grade-A office complex developed by tycoon Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia as a lasting tribute to his late son, Rajiv Ruparelia.

The 25-storey tower, which sits strategically on Yusuf Lule Road, was officially launched in a ceremony marked by both grandeur and emotion. Sudhir described the project as “a symbol of memory and hope,” underscoring that beyond being a premier commercial space, the tower carries the initials RR in honor of Rajiv, who tragically died in a car accident on May 3, 2025. His mother, Jyotsna, lit a commemorative candle during the unveiling, adding a deeply personal moment to the occasion.

While its naming reflects personal loss, the building itself represents a bold step in modern urban development. According to project details, RR Pearl Tower One offers more than 24,000 square meters of lettable space, including 16 floors of office accommodation and three basement parking levels with capacity for over 360 vehicles. Its design incorporates state-of-the-art infrastructure: dual high-speed fiber internet, automated fire detection systems, energy-efficient lighting, 24/7 water and power backup, and a robust security network with over 170 CCTV cameras.

The tower is the first phase of the ambitious Pearl Business Park, a master-planned 10-tower development envisioned to transform the corridor connecting Kampala’s central business district to Kololo and Nakasero. Future phases are expected to include a five-star hotel, a shopping mall, a hospital, and landscaped public spaces.

Stakeholders have hailed the project as a major boost to the city’s commercial real estate sector, with its strategic location providing easy access to Mulago Hospital, Makerere University, diplomatic missions, and hospitality centers. “This building sets new standards for business infrastructure in Kampala,” said one guest at the launch.

For Sudhir, however, the project’s significance goes far beyond architecture and investment. “RR Pearl Tower One immortalizes Rajiv’s name,” he said, emphasizing that his son’s passion for business and development continues to inspire the Ruparelia Group’s projects.

As Kampala positions itself as a regional business hub, RR Pearl Tower One stands as both a beacon of economic progress and a monument to family legacy—a tower that blends memory with modernity on the city’s ever-changing skyline.
