Uganda’s Speke Resort Convention Centre (SRCC) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming a member of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).
This prestigious membership connects SRCC to a global network of top venues, suppliers, and experts in the international meetings industry.
About ICCA
Founded in 1963, ICCA specializes in the international association meetings sector. It provides valuable resources such as data, education, communication channels, and networking opportunities. Today, ICCA is one of the most influential organizations in the world of international meetings. Its members benefit from education, tools, and connections that help them organize successful meetings and events.

SRCC expressed its excitement about this new membership. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the management said, “This esteemed membership connects us with a global network of top venues, suppliers, and experts in the international meetings industry, further solidifying our dedication to delivering exceptional services and facilities to our valued clients and guests. World-Class Facilities
Located near Uganda’s capital city and by the shores of Lake Victoria, the Speke Resort Convention Centre is an example of a successful public-private partnership. This project was developed by the Ugandan government and the Ruparelia Group’s Speke Group of Hotels. The convention centre features modern facilities, including:
A convention hall and gallery area that can seat 3,800 people.
12 high-end conference and meeting rooms.
2 VIP lounges.
A floating restaurant with a capacity of over 900 guests.

The SRCC is equipped with cutting-edge audiovisual technology, high-speed internet, and state-of-the-art presentation systems. Additional amenities include registration counters, a food court, organizer offices, and a large parking area with 725 designated spots, including spaces for differently-abled individuals.
Strategic Location
The SRCC is conveniently located only 25 minutes from Entebbe International Airport via the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway. This easy access makes it an attractive venue for international events and conferences.
A Collaborative Effort
The Speke Resort Convention Centre is part of a larger 105-acre luxury resort complex that includes two award-winning resorts: Speke Resort Munyonyo and Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort. Both resorts, along with the convention centre, are owned by the Ruparelia Group. This integrated nature of the facility makes it one of the most competitive MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destinations in the region.
Successful Events Hosted
Since its inception, the SRCC has successfully hosted several major events, including:
The Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE), Uganda’s largest tourism exhibition, which attracted over 250 regional and international exhibitors, 70 hosted buyers, and more than 5,000 trade visitors and consumers.
The 2024 Uganda-EU Business Forum, the largest joint Uganda-EU event on business and investment, with 3,600 participants, including 900 physical attendees and 90 exhibitors.
The 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit and the 3rd South Summit of the G77 and China, which saw 1,918 delegates from 129 countries, including 16 presidents and 16 prime ministers.
The 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC), which brought together over 30 parliamentary speakers.
Looking Ahead
With its new ICCA membership, the Speke Resort Convention Centre is set to enhance its services and make a significant impact on the international meetings industry. The management is committed to delivering exceptional services and facilities to their clients and guests, further solidifying Uganda’s position on the global stage for hosting international events and conferences.
