In a remarkable tribute to Uganda’s potential and capability, President Yoweri Museveni has commended businessman Sudhir Ruparelia for the swift construction of the Speke Resort Convention Center located at Munyonyo in Kampala.
The President expressed his admiration during a national address on Thursday evening while highlighting the accomplishments of the NRM during his 38-year tenure.
Uganda celebrates the NRM Liberation Day every 26th of January.
Museveni praised Sudhir for efficiently erecting the state-of-the-art facility, which recently hosted two prestigious summits – the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the G77+China from January 15 to 23.
Speaking about the conference center, Museveni stated:
More importantly, look at the facilities we built partly for this occasion but also to improve the infrastructure of the country, some of them built in one year.
He emphasized that the conference center is a testament to Uganda’s ability to achieve significant feats, noting that it was built by Sudhir’s company using government funds. Museveni shared an anecdote about a visiting president who wondered if the facility had been constructed by the Chinese, to which Museveni proudly replied that it was built by a local company.
One of the Presidents was asking me was it the Chinese who built this, I said no. This was built by our local company. There is nothing we can’t
The successful and rapid completion of the Speke Resort Convention Center, coupled with its hosting of major international events, showcased Uganda’s efficiency in executing large-scale projects. Museveni underscored Sudhir’s commitment as a model for other development initiatives, positioning Uganda as a destination capable of handling significant global events.
The Speke Resort Convention Center, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, stands as a symbol of Uganda’s progress and competitiveness on the international stage.
Sudhir Ruparelia’s dedication to the project was lauded by the President, reflecting positively on Uganda’s image in the global community. Earlier, First Lady Janet Museveni had also praised Sudhir’s commendable efficiency and dedication in preparing the Convention Centre.
I recently visited the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo to inspect the facilities for the upcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G77+China Heads of State and Government Summits.
I would like to express my appreciation to the Ruparelia Group for their commendable work in preparing the Convention Centre for these Summits. Their attention to detail and level of preparedness is truly praiseworthy.
