Coffee that ‘Kills penis’ banned from Kampala

L- Coffee has been banned from Kampala

STATEMENT

National Drug Authority (NDA) warns the public against the consumption of L-Power Coffee which our laboratory tests have confirmed that it is adulterated with Tadalafil, a prescription drug.

Tadalafil is a drug for erectile dysfunction which must be used under strict instructions by a qualified medical professional as it has serious side effects which include; extreme respiratory and cardiac problems, urinary disorders and sometimes leading to coma and death.

NDA’s imports control team intercepted a consignment of L-Power coffee which was being concealed as nutritional supplement, sent samples to our Quality Control Laboratory and after the positive results.

NDA formally informed the importers of L-Power to take full responsibility for its destruction and recall (collect off the market) any products that could have been sneaked into Uganda.

NDA. together with other law-enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate this matter to ensure that those who are responsible are held to account.

We hereby direct all pharmacies, Drug shops, supermarkets, online shops or any drug and health nutritional supplements dealers to stop with immediate effect stocking, sale, distribution or dealing in L-Power Coffee.

The public should remain vigilant and report to NDA any suspicious products on our toll-free line 0800 101 999 or WhatsApp line 0740 002 070.
