Col Kizza Besigye has admitted to receiving money from different sources including regime protagonists to run his previous Presidential campaigns.

Without revealing identities Kizza Besigye, a four time Presidential candidate said some money would come from regime sympathizers like businessmen whose aim was to protect their interests in case he took power so he would not cripple their empires.

Besigye, who remains Uganda’s strongest opposition politician after battling his nemesis for over 2 decades made the revelation while shedding more light on the allegations that FDC officials- president Patrick Amuriat and Secretary General Nandala Mafabi received billions of money from President Yoweri Museveni to run the party’s 2021 election campaigns.

Besigye was addressing a news conference at his office at Katonga road, in Kampala

Without mincing words, he confirmed that he had credible information Nandala and Amuriat got the funds.

However, the former personal doctor of Museveni declined to divulge into details of how much was sent to him or what amount did he reject as the media has been reporting lately.

“I have told everything to the committee set up by the national council that is investigating the allegations. I hear the report will be out on the 28th of this month,” Besigye said.

He added that once the report is released irrespective of its findings and recommendations he will be at liberty to speak freely about the “dirty money.”

Besigye who confirmed that he has ever received money from NRM insiders, security officials and sympathizers said it was however treason for Nandala to accept money directly from President Museveni.
