URA launches E-Receipt campaign imploring Ugandans to Pay taxes

In abid revolutionise tax payment amidst pressure to grow Uganda’s tax base, Uganda Revenue Authority has launched E-Receipt Campaign dubbed Tompa Birala Mpa E- Receipt

URA Commissioner General John Musinguzi urged tax payers to embrace the new system saying its accurate and efficient for  record keeping and revenue mobilisation

He anticipates the system to boost revenue collection going forward.

“Ura looks forward to tremendous tax collection this coming 2023/2024 financial year as we roll out E-Receipt campaign through the country,” Musinguzi stressed.

He further said during the campaign tax payers stand to win goodies worth million such as mobile phones, Boda Boda, laptops, fridges, office bags and tablets.

Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA ) Chairman Prof  Nagenda Musoke applauded URA for the innovation and good business partnership.

He assured ura of total support towards effective E-Receipt campaign implementation.

“Kacita supports the campaign of E-Rreceipt and we shall champion compliance within our membership for Sustainability. We call upon our members to embrace E-Receipt and if they are challenges they should consult us and ura to fix the challenges together,”Musoke said.

Tompa Ebirala Mpa E-Receipt will address  challenges, mitigation measures including creating a firm and all-inclusive political settlement;enforcing anti-corruption measures; streamlining the tax system to eliminate system inefficiencies; and systematically formalizing  informal sectors to widen the tax base
