Kayihura joins Muhoozi in Kabale

The two Generals met at Kabale White Horse Inn

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has Wednesday morning met former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen Kale Kayihura at White Horse Inn in Kabale district.

Muhoozi who is in the area for now the second day has been embroiled in numerous activities including official re-opening of Katuna Border, commissioning of water boat ambulance on lake Bunyonyi, meeting the youth leaders and engaging a number of stakeholders on issues concerning economic growth in Kabale.

Muhoozi, in the afternoon of Wednesday will address a rally which will mark the official celebrations of his 49th birthday.

The Kabale visit is dedicated to his concerted efforts in reopening Uganda- Rwanda border which had been closed for 4 years.

The closure affected trade between Ugandan businessmen and Rwandans.

Muhoozi engaged Rwandan President Paul Kagame who agreed to reopen the border and also attend his 48th birthday ceremony at Entebbe State House last year.

One of the reasons the border had been closed was the accusation that Rwanda had been spying on Uganda which saw a number of security officials suspected to be working for Kagame arrested.

Among those arrested include IGP (then) Kayihura. He was court-martialed and later released on bail. He now lives a low profile at his farm in Lyantonde.

Kayihura has resurfaced in Kabale flanked by his son and the two held a closed door conversation with Muhoozi.

MK and KK

Last year, Muhoozi publicly praised Kayihura and vowed to engage the Commander in Chief Gen Yoweri Museveni to pardon the former IGP.

Muhoozi popularly known as MK is positioning himself as Uganda’s next President after his father.

The countrywide tours he has so far conducted prove that he is very popular and his support relies among the youth who refer to him as “Our Generational Leader.”
