The race for State House, Nairobi continues to gather dust as the two main political titans, Raila Odinga and William Ruto, go head-to-head in a bid to land the number one job.
William Ruto camp strategists are scratching their heads for counter measures after his rival for the State House job, Raila Odinga, rushed to Uganda and met President Yoweri Museveni.
On Thursday evening, President Museveni, considered a kingmaker in the Great Lakes region, hosted Odinga at State House where the two discussed issues concerning the two countries.
“I received Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, who paid me a courtesy call at State House Entebbe this evening. We discussed a wide range of issues concerning our two countries. I welcome him,” Museveni tweet.
Sources in Kenya say Ruto’s camp is on tenterhooks considering Museveni’s influence in the region and that a pilgrimage to Kampala is one of the moves they are plotting to equalize Odinga.
President Museveni has been mute on who backs in Kenya’s heated presidential race although Kampala and Nairobi (Under President Uhuru Kenyatta), share warm relations.
Uhuru has publicly endorsed Odinga who has tried three times to occupy Kenya’s number one office, in vain.
Kenyans go to the polls in August to decide who will replace Uhuru who has served two terms.
