Uganda Police is still pursuing Ugandan blogger Fred Lumbuye who has been in Turkish detention.

The motor mouthed blogger was released by Turkish Authorities on Monday after two months of incarceration at the Kocaeli Foreigners Detention facility in Turkey.

But the police back home says despite his release, he is still wanted over numerous charges.

Lumbuye’s plight stems from his wild allegations of ‘killing’ several government officials, the King of Buganda and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Police intends to summon the blogger as soon as he is in jurisdiction as up to 15 case files were opened against him.

“Our position is still the same,” Uganda Police spokesperson Fred Enanga is quoted to have told New Vision.

Kyadondo East legislator Nkunyingi Muwada who is in Turkey says Lumbuye is aware of the pending cases.

National Unity Platform (NUP) has called Lumbuye’s release a victory against injustice.

“We are glad to learn that after several months of being held under detention, comrade Lumbuye Fred has been finally set free. We are very grateful to the legal team, the diaspora team, and all people of goodwill who did everything to ensure that Mr. Lumbuye regains his freedom,” a statement from NUP reads.

NUP leader Bobi Wine has since expressed his gratitude to the legal team that worked to secure Lumbuye’s conditional release.
