National Boxer Zebra Mando shot Dead in Bwaise

Zebra Mando was shot dead on Wednesday

President Yoweri Museveni has said former national boxer Zebra Ssenyange aka Mando has shot dead by security forces in Bwaise this past Wednesday.

Gen. Museveni, the Commander in Chief apologized to the deceased’s family in a televised national new year address he made on Thursday evening.

He explained that, “I specifically decided to take on his case and I have so far found out he was killed by security personnel.”

“I am very sorry, so sorry about this. I will bring my entire findings to the knowledge of the family. I am very sorry,” he said.

Mando, has been the national boxing team coach for Uganda at a time of his death.

He was a resident of St. Francis Zone, Bwaise III Parish.

Museveni said the deceased was an NRM supporter who was mistaken for training wrong people seeking to destabilize Kampala.

“When I heard of the death of Isaac Ssenyange lias Mando Zebra, a former Bombers Captain, I telephoned his wife and she narrated to me the events;’ said Museveni.

“Zebra was meant to meet me, he was an NRM supporter who was doing so much for us,” he added.

Ssenyange’s wife, according to Museveni, told him that soldiers entered Zebra’s house but he had gone.

“He climbed and jumped over a fence. That’s how he fell into the other group and was shot twice. I am very sorry about this. I am going to investigate this,” Museveni promised.

The Late was a former national team captain who is best remembered for having led the Bombers to the 10th All Africa Games hosted in Maputo city, Mozambique in 2011.
