AS UGANDA POLICE defies Electoral Commission guidelines and continues blocking, dispersing and disrupting opposition candidates’ lawful campaigns, a Counter-Terrorism operative nearly lost his eye as police fired volleys of live bullets in kayunga on Tuesday.

This officer only identified as Kato was assigned to guard NUP’s candidate Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine as he campaigns across the country.

Many people have been injured in the scuffle including Bobi Wine’s associate known as Dan Magic.

Bobi Wine stormed out of his car and rushed to rescue his bodyguard.

The injured were driven in an ambulance to Kawolo Hospital for urgent medical care.

Police’s excessive and reckless actions of using live ammunitions, teargas and rubber to scatter unarmed civilians continues to put the image of government into disrepute.

EC chairman Justice Simon Byabakama was prompted to write to the IGP Okoth Ochola about his institution’s unprofessionalism to which the latter responded saying the former’s allegations hadn’t been backed by substantial evidence.
