The unidentified deadly protester who descended on a police officer and clobbered him multiple times with a hammer has been arrested, Police has confirmed.

Without delving into details, Polly Namaye who speaks for Uganda Police told this website on Thursday that the alleged supporter of Robert Kyagulanyi was in custody at Kampala Central Police Station (CPS).

She referred us to the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) commander Moses Kafeero for details.

However, he was unavailable for more details.

Don Wanyama who also speaks for the Presidency earlier posted in his Twitter about the arrest of this unknown heartless man.

Mr Wanyama warned other protesters against attacking law enforcers saying they will also be apprehended.

“This goon has been netted. For all your madness, please desist from attacking lawful enforcers of the law. He’s lucky, a lawful state means he will go through normal legal processes and even be given bail,” Wanyama’s tweet reads.

On Wednesday, in different parts of the country security personnel battled protesters who denounced Kyagulanyi’s arrest.

Some of the supporters of Mr Kyagulanyi took on police officers in taekwondo on the streets of Kampala while other pelted sharp objects aiming at inflicting injuries on these law enforcers.
