The UPDF has taken responsibility of the whereabouts of Moses Nkonge Kibalama, the founder of National Unity Platform (NUP).

Kibalama has been missing for four days and his phones have been off.

He only surfaced in a video posted on social media where he announced he was reclaiming his party National Unity Reconciliation and Development Party (NURP) which he founded in 2004 and handed over its leadership to Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine having changed its name to NUP.

Shockingly, Kibalama who had gone missing, said in a video that he took a decision to retain his party after Bobi Wine failed to honour his word to pay him $5 million.

UPDF spokesperson Brig. Flavia Byekwaso told the media on Friday that the army is detaining him at an undisclosed location for his own safety.

“The security is holding him wherever he is being held for good reasons but most importantly to afford him maximum security,” she said.

Brig. Flavia said intelligence reports indicated threats to Kibalama’s life and planned violence at his residence.

In the video, Kibalama said he was threatened by people power hooligans who even planned to hurt his family and destroy his house.
