State Minister for Finance in charge for Planning Hon David Bahati was Tuesday declared winner of Ndorwa West after scoring record 90% with 45245 votes.
His closest rival Simpson Mpereirwe garnered 5089 votes and the third candidate got 304 votes.
Out of 300 villages in Ndorwa Wrest, Mr Bahati won 297, a major landslide.
The Junior Minister joined Parliament in 2006 at the age of 33 and has served for 3 consecutive terms. If he wins the main election in 2021, he will kick off a 2-decade journey of representation for people of Kabale.
The filthy rich politician, attributed his landslide victory to good leadership he has offered to the people of Ndorwa and service delivery.
However, a video that has been circulating online contradicts Bahati’s revelation that he is popular.
In a video, Bahati’s agents were seen giving out shs 5000 to every voter who joined the candidate’s queue.
People thronged the line to pick the 5k. That indicates the disenfranchisement the voters have been subjected to.
Many NRM politicians have made it a habit to use money to buy off support at the last minute of voting.
According to reports, only 3 villages where Bahati lost, rejected his money.
Bahati’s agents were overheard telling the voters that the 5k was transport refund.
