AIGP Kasingye Recovers from Coronavirus

Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Asan Kasingye has tested negative for COVID-19 after 16 days of treatment.

On August 23, the chief political commissar of Uganda Police announced that he had been infected with the virus and would therefore seek medical treatment.

He has since been in isolation. On Tuesday he posted on his Twitter page that he had tested negative after results returned from Ministry of Health.

Kasingye was the first top government official to publicly divulge his COVID-19 status.

On Tuesday, Ministry of Health confirmed 124 new cases and 2 deaths bringing the total number of infections to 3900 and 46 deaths.

1817 people have recovered from the virus in Uganda.
