Breaking: Rukutana Charged in Ntungamo, Remanded to Mbarara

Ntungamo Grade One Magistrate has remanded Minister Mwesigwa Rukutana to Kakiika Prison until Tuesday (tomorrow) when he will appear before the Chief Magistrate to take plea in Ntungamo again.

Rukutana has been charged with three counts: attempted murder, malicious damage and threatening violence.

Solomon Muyita, the Judiciary spokesperson confirmed the charges placed against Rukutana.

“Attempted murder charge can only be heard by the Chief Magistrate and today he wasn’t around,” Muyita said.

Muyita said the judge will appear tomorrow.

Rukutana along with other three of his bodyguards were driven to Ntungamo on Monday afternoon charged and returned to Kakiika Prison.

He will be taken back to Ntungamo on Tuesday morning.
