There is growing worry and frustration among the public as Coronavirus cases soar at a time when government is easing on the lockdown, allowing sections of the population to return to work and support their families and lives.

Since government planned to reopen the country in phases, Uganda has registered more than 100 new cases, but what worries Ugandans more is that additional community cases are on the rise.

On Tuesday May 26, private car motorists hit the the road after 56 days of being locked up in their homes to go and fend, hustle and some kick off a new beginning.

Against that backdrop, the Ministry of health has Tuesday announced that 31 new cases have been recorded bringing the total number of the infections in the country to 253.

23 new cases are from the Points of Entry while 8 new cases are contacts to previously confirmed truck drivers.

Good news is the contacts were under quarantine at the time of test.

20 positive foreign truck drivers (16 Tanzanians and 4 Kenyans) were handed over to their country of origin

The total samples tested Tuesday are 1,116; 896 from Points of Entry  while tested 220 from the community.

The total number of recoveries is 69 and no deaths related to COVID-19 has been registered in Uganda.
