Rev. Fr. Deogratius Kiibi Kateregga has Sunday been detained by Mpigi police after he was found conducting a mass in Mpigi District.
Kiibi’s actions contravene President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s advisory he issued on March 18 closing all schools, churches and stoping huge public gatherings.
Museveni’s aim was to fight the spread of COVID-19 to which 30 Ugandans have so far tested positive.
Mpigi District Police Commander Herbert Nuwagaba said that Fr.Kiibi was celebrating a mass at St. Joseph Catholic Parish, which isn’t in line with Museveni’s directive.
