Police has arrested Herbert Akampamya, 24, a first year student with Uganda Christian University, for allegedly giving false information.
He was arrested Friday from Sydney Apartments in Mukono Municipality.

According to his parents Akampamya called them yesterday informing them of how he had been kidnapped by unknown people and the kidnappers were demanding for Shs 22 million ransom for his release.

Police investigated and later discovered that he had faked his kidnap.
He was arrested and is currently detained at Jinja Road Police Station on charges of giving false information to a public officer.
