President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has secretly deployed his son to oversee the expenditure of shs 650 billion approved recently to empower the people of Rwenzori sub-region in Western Uganda, TrumpetNews has exclusively learnt.
Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba who serves as the President’s special advisor on security matters will liaise with his uncle, Gen. Salim Saleh who has pitched camp in the region for close to half a year.
Saleh, who coordinating his project Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) designed another ‘special’ programme ‘Shs600b economic development master plan’ in which all 8 districts in Rwenzori would benefit to kick out poverty.
But a source said, President Museveni who appeared to have been impressed by Saleh’s exceptional idea, asked cabinet to increase the budget by shs 50m if he was to consolidate his leadership in this area.
Rwenzori sub-region since Museveni took over power has been notorious and known for supporting opposition parties.
Its notoriety escalated in 2017 when Obusinga Bwa Rwenzuru under the command of King Charles Wesley Mumbere and his royal guards threatened to secede before engaging the army and police in a fierce battle that claimed over 100 lives.
Rwenzori particularly Kasese continues to be a headache to the ruling party as the electorate elects FDC legislators.
The norm began in 2001 with Besigye’s first attempt for the highest office. While ralling support, he pledged that his government would recognize Obusinga as a cultural institution once elected.
Even when NRM caved in 2005 and recognized Mumbere as King, the masses have since habitually voted FDC.
But determined Saleh, last year began his journey to deliever Rwenzori from Tooro where he camped for 4 months.
He then shifted base to Kasese where he has been till todate.

Our trusted Source close to the First Family revealed to this news site that President Museveni moved Muhoozi from active command in the Force to handling sensitive political and security matters.
“And crashing FDC in Rwenzori is now his big task,” said a source.
Muhoozi, unlike his uncle who openly rallies the masses in Rwenzori against a backdrop of Operation Wealth Creation, the former SFC commander is operating covertly.
“He has been camping in the area (Kasese) for close to 4 months but no one can see him. He is either in Kasese or Kampala to brief his dad and strategizing,” a source added.
However, this website coldn’t independently verify this information. But what we can reliably confirm is the approval of shs 650b by the cabinet to facilitate activities and empower the people of Rwenzori.
A source said the shs 650b is supposed to be spent in one year before preparations for 2021 elections begin.
Muhoozi was not available for a comment by press time.
