Kyerenga Music Concert scheduled for October 20, 2018 is hanging in balance after managers of the venue clarified that organizers have not fulfilled the requirements.
Speaking exclusively to Trumpetnews on Wednesday, Namboole Stadium Managing Director Jamilu Ssewanyana said he was not aware the organiser(s) of the concert has booked venue in form of payment.
“No, no one has paid for this event as far as I know,” said Mr. Jamilu on phone.
He acknowledged that the organiser(s) approached management seeking to hold the event.
“As a policy for hosting big events, when you approach us we advise you to first provide clearances from police and KCCA,” he added.
“I have not seen these clearances.”
Jamilu said his administration can’t accept the concert even when the whole amount is paid without police clearance letter.
“Why don’t you go and ask the organisers if they have these clearances,” he said.
Over the last couple of days brief statement attributed to police spokesperson Emilian Kayima have circulated in social media but have since turned to be fake news.
Deputy police publicist Patrick Onyango denied claims that police had stopped the concert.
“The organisers have problem with management. They want to use police to justify their failure,” Onyango said.
This website couldn’t reach any of the concert organisers for a comment.
The concert will be hosted by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
