A joint security team on Thursday met businessmen and women of Kisekka market in Downtown Kampala, in a bid lure them into dissociate them from protests.
Usually bloody riots erupt from this notorious part of the city because it harbours hardliners including veterans, highly skilled martial arts fighters and many more.
Sitting at Emerald Hotel, Kampala Metropolitan Commander CP Moses Kafeero Kabugo led the security team and was franked by Commandant Military Police Col. William Bainomugisha.
In the meeting, a number of issues regarding the origin and possible solutions to riots in Kampala and it surroundings were discussed.
Kampala police KMP boss CP. Kafeero proposed that security needs to work very closely with the civilians to establish the source of riots and deep-seated anger these people are ‘carrying’ towards the establishment.
Kafeero stressed that besides violating the laws, riots also paralyse business community bringing a negative impact on the economy.
“Burning tyres can even cause arson to the businesses in the area and should be avoided,” he said.
Military Police commander also said while security is everybody’s responsibility, he urged landlords of public infrastructure such as malls, arcades to be responsible for the security of their clients and those they serve in partnership with Security Agencies.
“Everyone has a stake in ensuring security in our country,” sail Col. Bainomugisha.
The meeting was attended by all top security bosses including the Army Commander, Inspector General of Police, ISO and CMI boss.
