In the wake of Uganda’s current political tension, Kampala city has on Friday been besieged by gun wielding combatants, tankers and teargas canons on every street to combat any possible outbreak of protests following the re-arrest of Bobi Wine- a pop star cum politician who has in the recent weeks brought the State on its knees.

Security agencies justified the heavy deployment as a means to thwarts riots engineered by opposition supporters.

In Downtown Kampala particularly Kiseka market the deployment was ‘abnormal.’

What became more apparent on Friday was that civilians who are mostly traders were seen shutting down their businesses to avoid chaos.

Military men were combing every street in Kampala

Wherever there are riots in Kampala, it is the downtown part of which suffers the consequences.

In Kamwokya, a notorious suburb perceived as a home of Bobi Wine, real names Robert Kyagulanyi, the army battled protesters on Friday morning.

What however highlighted the demonstrations is how soldiers descended on a journalist Joshua Mujungu and clobbered him to pulp.

Joshua was by press time admitted at City Hospital. He is attached to NBSTV.
