The drama in Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) continues as ‘rebel’ MPs opposed to the party’s leadership continue to make their stand known.
Yesterday, these Members of Parliament opposed to party President Patrick Amuriat’s style of leadership met at Fang Fang Hotel in Kampala.
The MPs met to discuss among others the ’reshuffle’ the party president instituted at the close of last week in which he replaced the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Winnie Kiiza with a little known Betty Achan, while influential Abdu Katuntu was replaced with a ‘comical’ Mubarak Munyagwa.
The now rattled legislators led by the outgoing Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Winnie Kiiza converged to brainstorm on their next move, as divisions between Pro-Muntu MPs and Party President Patrick Amuriat continue.
TrumpetNews now brings you the resolutions of the meeting that were agreed upon last evening and will be announced this afternoon at the office of the LoP at Parliament
“These are the resolutions we have made as we go forward. We want our party to remain vibrant and as such we agreed upon some methods that we believe can take the party forward. ,” said the source who attended the meeting.
The meeting which started at around 6:30 lasted about 6 hours.
The resolutions

The MPs who nearly all belong to the Mugisha Muntu faction and signed off yesterday’s resolutions include Angelina Osege, Abdu Katuntu, Winnie Kizza, Cecilia Ogwal, Ibrahim Ssemuju, Paul Mwiru, Odonga Otto and William Nzoghu.
Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda who was retained as Party Chief Whip also decided he would not retain his position. He was not dropped in last week’s party leadership changes
Parliament to Intervene
As FDC continues to squabble, this website has learnt that the Deputy Speaker, Jacob Oulanyah, who is currently steering Parliament, will formally inform the house about the change of leadership in opposition, today during plenary sitting.
FDC last Friday in a re-organisation moved dropped most of their parliament leadership team, accusing them of disrespecting party leadership at Najjanankumbi and being “too close” to past Party President Mugisha Muntu.
Others that were also dropped, in a move seen by observers as revenge against the former president Mugisha Muntu’s camp, are Commissioner of Parliament Cecilia Ogwal of Dokolo who was replaced by Buhweju county’s Francis Mwijukye; and Chairperson of Committee on Commissions Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises, Abdu Katuntu who replaced by Kawempe South MP, Mubarak Munyagwa who many believe is just a comedian with no actual work capabilities and will be a shame to the party.
Trumpetnews will bring you further details of the resolutions as they are announced this afternoon.
