The Heads of top security agencies in Uganda will Monday evening issue a joint communiqué on the increased criminality that has rocked the nation.

Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola, UPDF commander Gen David Muhoozi, Security Minister Gen Elly Tumwine, Commissioner of Prisons John Byabashaija and many others will appear on different media outlets to discuss and also respond to crime related queries from the public.

According to police publicist ASP Emilian Kayima the move is aimed at restoring confidence in the citizens that government is still able to protect their lives and property.

These security gurus will dissect matters to do with the recent kidnaps and a spate of murders with the latest being Arua Municipality lawmaker Ibrahim Abiriga who was Friday evening gunned down near his residence in Kawanda, Wakiso District.

His assassination bears hallmarks of other murders of prominent Ugandans whose killers remain at large.

AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, a second top officer in the ranks was last year in March shot dead multiple times along with his driver and bodyguard as he left home for duty in broad day light.

Whereas his execution was linked to a rebel outfit ADF, Military Intelligence would later arrest top cops who are allegedly connected to his murder.

The same rogue cops, it is believed had a handle in the killing of state prosecutor Joan Kagezi who was also shot on an evening as she returned home from work.

UPDF Major Mohammad Kiggundu was shot dead a few years ago.

One thing in common with the killers, they use powerful gun, ride motorcycles and have the zeal to execute their mission in broad day light.
