UPDF four star General Kale Kayihura has revealed he requires no one’s authorization to fly out of Uganda.
The former police chief made the revelation on Wednesday while responding to several media reports which in the recent past suggested that he had been barred from leaving the country to seek medical care abroad.
He for the first time opened up to a local online publication- Chimpreports- “I have never asked anyone for permission to travel outside the country for treatment or for any other reason.”
When tasked to explain why the reports suggested he had been barred because it is presumed he would escape future charges or seek asylum, Kayihura retorted “Escape from what? Even if I wanted to travel, why would anyone stop me? Those reports are from people with evil minds. Uganda used to have very good people. Where are these ones coming from?” he wondered.
Kayihura described the reports as a hoax and peddled by malicious people.
The once powerful UPDF General revealed that he is too busy to travel; adding that he is concentrating on agriculture at his farm in Lyantonde District.
TrumpetNews recently reported that Mr. Kayihura had retreated to his upcountry home in Lyantonde.
“I am into farming,” he said, adding, “I have no time to go anywhere,” Kayihura clarified on Wednesday.
In March 2018, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni through his twitter page announced he had dropped Kayihura as the Inspector General of Police.
He was relieved of his duties together with security minister Henry Tumukunde.
The two powerful army generals had ventured into vendetta instead of executing their duties with precision.
Whereas media reports further suggested that Kayihura was travelling to seek treatment, he refuted this claim saying he is as fit a fiddle and infact runs over 10 kilometres daily.
“I run 10 kilometers every day. I challenge those who are saying I am sick to come and I show them how fit I am.”
“I am in very good health,” Kayihura concluded.
Kayihura’s responses put an end to the rumour that the once powerful general was running through some rough patches that had been shielded from the public eye.
