Phillip Tumwebaze Wabwire’s disappearance on February 16, two weeks to his wedding aroused anxiety among family members in Kyanja, a Kampala suburb.

However, the good news is he was recovered by police on Saturday having been tracked through one of his close friends.

He is due to walk down the aisle Mercy Twinomujuni on March 3, 2018.

Police said that family members divulged that the wedding plans have since resumed with immediate effect.

This website has established that Phillip wasn’t kidnapped as earlier reported but went into hiding to avoid wedding his lover Mercy.

“It is a case of forced marriage. It seems he is not ready to marry that girl yet his family is pushing him to,” said a relative who asked not to be named.

Adding that, while at his friend’s place where he sought refuge for weeks, he warned him never to reveal to his family his whereabouts.

“His friend came under pressure after stories circulated in the media. He feared police would arrest him,” a relative further said.

Phillip was dismayed upon his recovery the family announced the wedding preparations would resume with immediate effect.

On February 16, Phillip was supposed to attend a wedding meeting in town with several of his family members but went to buy airtime and never returned.

Concerned relatives are appealing to authorities to intervene in this matter as he is likely to commit a crime should the family push for this wedding.

Some unconfirmed reports indicate Phillip has a mental problem which the family is aware of.

If all goes as planned, Phillip and Mercy will take marriage vows next Saturday.
