Socialite Brian Kirumira alias Brian Kirumira was Tuesday arrested and detained at Kabalagala Police Station after he shot and injured a man only identified as Victor Bitwire.
Whereas earlier reports indicated that Victor was shot as he attempted to trespass to Brian White’s residence in Buziga a high-end surbub of Kampala, police slapped attempted murder charges on him.
The showy ‘money magnet’ with no known source of income shot to the limelight as a kind-hearted
Ugandan who would be filmed splashing money to the needy.
By press time he was still incarcerated at Kabalagala while Victor lies unconscious at IHK hospital where he is receiving medical treatment.
Who is Victor Bitwire?
TrumpetNews has established that Victor, 49, is Col Kizza Besigye’s brother in-law.
He is the younger brother of Judith Bitwire mother of Ampa Besigye- the first born son of Besigye.
Judith was Besigye’s first wife and she died in 1999.
Judith and her brother Victor grew lived in Kasese with their father Emmanuel Bitwire who worked in Kilembe mines, but they hail from Kabale district.
“Besigye met Judith during the NRA Bush War when they captured Kasese town,” a relative said.
This website further understands that Victor has lived in London for the last 28 years and only returned a year ago to build his house and look after his ailing father Emmanuel who lives in Kabale.
We have also learnt that while London he kept flying to Norway to check on her mother who was hospitalised 10 years ago over kidney related complications.
It remains unclear a person of his calibre was shot intruding into someone’s home.
Unlike previous reports linking the shooting to trespass, Police detectives have interviewed Victor’s friend whom they walked to together at the time of the scuffle.
A friend who wasn’t mentioned said that while they were coming from a nearby hangout at 2am heading home when they were intercepted by Brian White who looked high on drugs.
He reminded them that they were not supposed to pass near his gate while interacting.
Detectives say that Victors friend added that a verbal exchange before they reminded Brian White that it’s the residents including them who contributed for the construction of the road connecting to their homes.
And at that time he (Brian White hadn’t become a neighbour) and they wondered how he would stop them from conversing.
Visibly irked with the verbal artillery, the ‘tycoon’ pulled his gun and shot in the air before ordering them to kneel.
He then shot Victor in the shoulder near the neck.
Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesman Luke Owoyesigire told TrumpetNews that, “we are waiting for Victor recover and be able to speak so that we can get his version.”
He said that Brian White will remian in custody as police investigates the matter.
