The Parliament of Uganda on Tuesday turned into a boxing ring of sorts after charged opposition lawmakers exchanged fists with their rivals on the Hansard.
The chaos was ignited by complaints raised by FDC vocal MP Hon Semujju Ibrahim Nganda that NRM Minister Ronald Kibuule sneaked a gun in the house and threatened to blow up his brains over age limit debate.
Earlier Speaker Rebecca Kadaga had okayed the age limit motion to be tabled on the floor of Parliament by Hon Raphael Magyezi.
But a determined opposition vowed to shed blood to protect the constitution.
“The Minister crossed from the (Government) side and came to this side and and threatened that I was going to face death,” Ssemujju avers.
“Madam Speaker, for the members of this house, I would like to seek your indulgence, for members to leave the camber to be checked again,” appealed MP William Nzhougu.
“Even in that seat where you are you are not safe.”
The speaker declined to this motion saying she would not act on speculation.
She said she would review the alleged CCTVfootage to ascertain the said threats from Minister Kibuule.
