Democratic Party (DP) president Norbert Mao has been arrested by Uganda police as he attempted to walk to city square to pin a banner against constitutional ammendment.
Mao, before his arrest launched a campaign dubbed “Togyikwatako” at the party head offices at City House in Kampala.
Togyikwatako is a vernacular word meaning don’t dare touch.
Mao warned President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his ilk to desist from amending the constitution to lift age limit law or else DP will mobilise masses across the country to rise against the regime.
Responding to Museveni’s comments he made yesterday about the age limit debate, Mao said the President has turned into a serial liar who changes statements for political survival.
“You remember well that Museveni said his son Muhoozi was not interested in joining the miltary that he was a mere LDU but today he is a Major General,” Mao said.
Museveni while addressing the press at State House Entebbe labelled the debate as nonsense and diversionary.
After addressing the media Mao and other party leaders proceeded to City Square but police foiled their attempt and arrested them.
The operation was headed by Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) commander Frank Mwesigwa.
