FDC is Uganda’s strongest opposition party with no doubt.

Michael Kabazigurika who is FDC’s strongholds as MP for Nakawa Municipality in a strange twist of events decided to donate to his tormentors.

The MP donated to the police force which months ago was stringing him around in a police van to Luzira prison where he battled alleged treason charges.

Not enemies

According to Kabaziguruka, the donation was to promote sports in his constituency, where incidentally the Police Headquarters are based.

The FDC legislator has offered Jinja Road Police Football Club sportswear ahead of Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP- East) tournament.

Kabaziguruka further pledged financial assistance to the team when the games kick off.

Yesterday he took to his Facebook page to announce he was fulfilling one of the pledges he made during campaigns last year.

“In further fulfilling one of my campaign promises to promote sports in Nakawa Division, today morning I donated a football jersey to Jinja Road Police FC and also further pledged more assistance to the team during the upcoming regional (KMP-East) tournament. I wish the team success,” he posted.

On several occasions, Kabaziguruka has been incarcerated at Jinja Road police cells on many charges including treason and subversion.

Unity is way to go

An excited police officer who couldn’t hide his appreciation of the MP’s gesture said this is the way to go.

“This is a very good gesture. Most people we jail for various reasons walk out of here with very little concern for our work. I am happy that Kabazigurika looked beyond his troubles to fulfill his pledge. This is the true definition of unity” the who cop who preferred anonymity said.

Kabazigurika is battling treason charges that saw him incarcerated at Jinja road and later Luzira Maximum prison at the start of his term in February last year.

Nakawa division was previously in the hands of former deputy Attorney General and NRM leaning Fred Ruhindi who lost the constituency to FDC’s Kabazigurika.
