The Truth: What exactly killed Ivan Ssemwanga

RIP; Ssemwanga

The curtain came down on the Rich Gang last Thursday, the wealthy group lost their leader Ivan Ssemwanga who died at The Steve Biko Hospital in Pretoria, South Africa.

In the days that followed, there was a whirlwind of send off activities culminating into the final showdown last evening when Ivan was laid to rest at his native home in Kayunga District.

What killed the tycoon?

Ssemwanga was in Kampala at the end of April. He was seen with his bosom buddy Ian Cheune sipping a humble Pepsi at the Blankets and Wine event.

He had the day before visited an orphanage and made a handsome donation.

Days later, the tycoon flew back to South Africa, getting back to running his businesses.

News then broke that Ivan had been hit by a deadly stroke coupled with blood clots in his system.

He was then admitted to hospital as relatives including his ex wife Zari Hassan and family converged to see him go through a series of operations to save his life.

Ssemwanga succumbed to his ailments 11 days later sending Ugandans into a mourning frenzy.

But, after all that pomp at his burial, does the world know what exactly led to the death of the socialite?

The real truth

Sources within Ssemwanga’s family and close circles allege he succumbed to blood spillage into his brain from a drunken accident.

It is alleged, Ivan returned home one evening so drunk. As he ascended the stairs into his top floor bedroom of his Sandton house, he slipped, rolled and hit his head on the stairs causing a gush of blood into his brain.

Indeed, pictures of him in hospital show a massive cut on his head.

This is presumed was the operation to free his brain from the blood spillage and to get his system operational again.

Even then, doctors had apparently warned his family that the kind of injuries Ivan sustained were too grave.

If he survived, he would have lost use of most of his body functions from the stroke.

As rumours about the cause of his death continue to swirl, TrumpetNews investigations point to that fall and resulting injuries as cause of death.
