Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has been conducting an enforcement operation targeting cars with fake registration plates and unrenewed foreign plates road licences in Kampala.
The enforcement team working jointly with traffic police of Jinja road, Bombo road, Kiira road and Kira-Namugongo traversed the city fishing out the cars one by one operating on Intelligence gathered over time.
By yesterday 11th May 2017, 46 cars had been impounded. These include high power models of brands like Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz Range rover, Toyota Prado to mention but a few.
43 of these vehicles’ owners have already complied with Tax and paid their dues ( both taxes and penalties).
Shillings 270,200,942 million is the amount of taxes recovered by this operation of the enforcement team thus far.
