FDC loses Kagoma County MP seat miserably

The ruling party candidate Moses Walyomu Muwanika has retained Kagoma MP seat after polling highest number of votes 24257.

His rival Timothy Lusala Batuwa standing on opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket was not anywhere close to Walyomu and he emerged the third with 8149 votes.

Alex Brandon Kintu an independent candidate is the second runner up with 18490 votes.

Bismarck Bidondole also an independent is the last having polled 1248 votes.

The Kagoma county seat fell vacant after the Court of Appeal nullified Moses Walyomu’s victory due to bribery issues.

Results

On Wednesday, the Electoral Commission Chairman Simon Byabakama warned everybody taking part in the exercise to be law-abiding during and after the polling process to ensure a smooth conduct and conclusion of the by-election.

The results were confirmed by Electoral Commission (EC) publicist Jotham Taremwa.

He said the polling process went on smoothly.

The voter turn-up has been is quite high.

Kagoma County has 158 polling stations with 101.910 registered voters.

There was a bit of commotion when some people were refused to vote because their names were not on the register.
