The elite unit of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDFC) Special Forces Command (SFC) is reportedly leading the probe into execution of a senior officer AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, TrumpetNews has learnt.
SFC is in charge of the President’s security details and other strategic areas in the land like oil reach region of Albertain.
According to a source in Police who asked not to be named, IGP Kale Kayihura’s selected team of investigators now acts a support group.
The decision to front SFC at the vanguard of the inquest comes after President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni angrily said that police has been infiltrated by criminals.
“There is fear that same criminals could be part of the investigations and therefore could jeopardize the process,” a source said.
This Website understands that Museveni sanctioned SFC to lead the probe.
Some other reports have it Museveni has authorized another parallel probe team led by CID director Grace Akullo, investigators from Internal Security Organisation (ISO), Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and SFC.
SFC publicist Chris Magezi when contacted when contacted about the development said that, “SFC has never been part of investigating criminals.”
“Only police, ISO, ESO, CMI, name them can do that job,”
He referred us to the Command’s website to check out its roles, “Go to our website and read and see what we do.”
He concluded saying, “SFC can never be part of this investigation.”
Newly appointed police mouthpiece AIGP Asan Kasingye laughed off when asked.
“Who said that?” he asked.
Kaweesi was shot death alongside his driver Godfrey Mambewa and bodyguard Kenneth Erau 12 days ago as he left his home for duty.
Whereas police has linked his assassination to a militant group ADF, highly classified information reveals otherwise.
The findings indicate that the 43 year old officer has been at the centre of executing dirty deals for affluent businessmen in Uganda.
“When tycoons in town got arrested or involved in scandals, Kaweesi was always there to clean their image or protect them,” a source says.
“You can imagine a situation where a DPC receives a call from an AIGP Kaweesi ordering him to release a suspect on bond who is accused of smuggling gold, ivory or conning colossal sums of money. And once the suspect is out Kaweesi’s share would be on table,” a source added.
“He has been a billionaire at such young age and the little time he has been in the Force. Many officers at his rank who have been working quite longer have never amassed such wealth.”
A police source also told this website that Kaweesi could have a hand in interfering with investigations of Mohammad Sebuufu, a prominent city car dealer who was charged with murder of his client last year.
Another website Chimpreports reports that Kaweesi is said to have been used by a dangerous mafia system that worked from behind scenes to help wealthy businessmen and criminals to escape justice.
“The president’s team has already finished analyzing Kaweesi’s telephone communications. We are following clues that he was always at the service of a mafia system,” the website adds.
“The information available shows Kaweesi as the main contact of wealthy men in Kampala. They used him a lot.”
That at least every two weeks, the president’s office received complaints against Kaweesi.
“Many feared him – that he was untouchable and IGP Gen Kale Kayihura’s blue-eyed boy. But Kayihura was informed many times that he was surrounded by dubious people whom he never investigated or got rid of,” Chimpreports added.
He added: “All these murders, I have followed myself. There are always clues leading to the criminals but the criminals have infiltrated the police.”
“You get a situation where they are intimidating the witnesses, killing the witnesses,” said Museveni before adding, “That is why the public fears to give information (about criminals) to the police.”
One of the policemen being probed has been identified as Nixon, a former operative with the notorious Wembley, a squad accused of human rights abuses.
Officials told us that Nixon, a close ally of Kayihura, has been named in several security reports as the man behind armed robberies in the country but no action has been taken against him.
Another online website The Investigator started publishing reports incriminating Kaweesi way back before his death.
Last Friday The Investigator MD Stanley Ndawula issued an article indicating how Kaweesi’s death saved him from a life time humiliation.
That Museveni had sanctioned his prosecution and the once AIGP perceived to be Kayihura’s successor would end up confined in the thick walls of Luzira prison.
