The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) this morning released the 2016 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results that show an improvement from last year.
More students pass
UNEB registered an increase in the performance of students as compared to 2015. The results that were presented to Education Minister Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni by UNEB Secretary General Daniel Odongo show over 98.7% of the students who sat for the examinations qualified for the the UACE certificate.
Cheats busted
On a totally sad note, UNEB withheld results of 64 candidates that sat from 11 centers over malpractice pending further investigation. The affected centres are being investigated for examination malpractices including teach aid, copying and syndicated answering.
E- Registration shines
Professor Mary Okwakol, the UNEB Board Chairperson attributes the improved performance on e-registration which she says has increased the speed and accuracy of the whole examination process.
In total, 39,797 passed with 3 principal passes, while 27,831 passed with 2 principal passes. Also 21,031 students got 1 principal pass while,12,836 walked away with one subsidiary.
Central districts excel
The top performing districts were as usual Mukono district where 52.9% of the registered candidates passed with three principal passes, closely followed by Wakiso which had 47.7% of the registered candidates passing with 3 principal passes while Kampala followed with 45.2%.
Mbarara had 32.9% of their candidates notching 3 principal passes.
