Masindi town to host NRM anniversary fete

The 31st National Resistance Movement (NRM) victory celebrations will be hosted in Masindi golf and sports club grounds.

The minister of presidency Hon Esther Mbayo Mbulakubuza said that the preparations for Thursday event are in high gear.

Every 26th of January, the ruling party celebrates this day which marked the end of a 5 year guerilla warfare which ushered NRM/A into power led by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

“This year’s celebrations will be held in Masindi Town at the Golf and Sports Club grounds. The Chief Guest will be His Excellency General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. We also expect dignitaries from within the region and overseas,” said Mbayo while addressing journalists at media center earlier today.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “uganda’s success story under NRA/NRM leadership is a shared victory.”

The NRA/NRM Victory is a shared victory because building this nation has involved many stakeholders including the wanainchi at the grassroots to whom the country actually belongs,” she added.

“By the time the NRA/NRM took over the mantle of leadership, this blessed country of ours was on the verge of collapsing. It was a perfect example of a failed African state, it may not have reached the likes of Somalia of 2006 but we should all accept that Uganda had degenerated into irremediable political and socio-economic doldrums; got infected with the scourge of HIV/AIDS; blatant extra-judicial killings and complete disregard of the rule law and order even by the guarantors of the law.”

The story of the woes of Uganda of that time is too well known to warrant any repeated mention. Mbayo concluded.
