James Saka, the former Executive Director of National Information Technology Authority (NITA) has Wednesday died.
Saka has been battling COVID-19 at Mulago Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he was admitted to for close to two weeks.
An official at Mulago who wished not to be quoted confirmed that Saka died of the virus.
Saka, quit NITA and retired in August after working for more than a decade.
Saka’s former employer NITA-Uganda tweeted about his death: “It is with profound shock and sadness that we announce that James Saaka, our former ED, has passed away. We extend our most heartfelt condolences and sympathy to James’s family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this most difficult time.”
