The aircraft which skidded off the runway as it landed at Entebbe Airport on Thursday morning causing disruptions in operations has been towed away.
The aircraft B-737-800 belonged to Ethiopian Airlines registration number ET-ATV with flight number ET338 on on a regular scheduled service from Addis Ababa to Entebbe, Uganda.
It veered off off the runway by a few meters during landing.
A statement from from Ethiopian Airlines indicated that passengers and crew were safely deplaned and were taken to the terminal and cleared normally through the regular clearance process.
“There is no damage to the aircraft and it is being towed to the ramp.
We apologize to our valued customers, who were on-board the flight for the inconvenience. An alternative Flight is being arranged to complete the return flight and rebook the passengers, who were booked to travel from Entebbe to Addis Ababa,” a statement seen by this website indicated.
Officials from Civil Aviation Authority later confirmed that normal operations have resumed at the facility having removed the plane from the runway.
