Singer Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool has spoken out on Friday night fracas which erupted at Cricket Oval Stadium as he entertained music lovers.
Bebe Cool was among the locals artistes hired to perform before the guest, a Jamaican Reggae singer Tarrus Riley took to the stage.
However ugly incidents ensued as Bebe Cool ascended to the podium to do what he knows best.
A charged crowd chanting People Power slogan started pelting bottles to Bebe Cool a staunch supporter of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
These hooligans believed to have been Kyadondo East MP supporters Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi accused Bebe Cool of rallying behind government.
A month ago, Museveni attended Bebe Cool’s concert he hosted at Kololo Airstrip becoming the only local artiste to have a President in the audience.
Bebe Cool and MP Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine fell out many years ago having started the music career together.
Speaking to this website in Saturday afternoon, Bebe Cool said he expected the violent actions since he has learnt of a plan by his opponents to disrupt his upcoming shows.
“The situation is not as alarming as it seems especially now that you are also aware that there are certain characters that are being planted ahead of my performances,” said Bebe Cool.
He added, “I am a musician and I stand strong for my beliefs. I am not at any moment willing to give in to hooliganism or any form of intimidation.”
Bebe Cool appeals to Ugandans to denounce all forms of violence and intolerance because “I am not about to stop performing or appearing in public.”
