A Kenyan entertainment promoter Barry Ndengeyingoma popularly known as B-Club is contemplating legal action against Pearl of Africa Hotel tycoon Mohammed Hamid for fleecing him millions of shillings.
Mr. Hamid partnered with B-Club, a Kenyan national of Rwandan origin into hiring Nigerian R&B singer Davido to entertain partiers at the end of 2018 in a music concert dubbed ’30 Billion’ at the Hotel premises in Nakasero, an upscale suburb of Kampala.
According to a source, Mr. Hamid found it very easy to go through B-Club a renowned international events organizer.
“Barry works with numerous artistes across the continent thanks to his showbiz passion,” a source at the Hotel said.
In their negotiations, Mr. Hamid found it very expensive to contract Davido alone.
Currently, Hamid commonly known as AYA is experiencing financial huddles.
A source said Hamid then agreed with B-Club to partner and would share 50-50 profits after the show.
The event was not disappointing.
Whereas Davido real names Adedeji Adeleke delayed to perform, partiers had thronged Pearl of Africa in thousands.
“People danced, ate and drunk all expensive liquors while waiting for the musician. He stepped on stage in the wee hours of Wednesday. But still people hadn’t moved an inch,” a source said.
“You had to cough shs 5 million to book a table. Entrance was 50k ordinary and 100k VIP,” a source said.
To show that a night was a success, Ugandan socialite Bad Black is estimated to have spent shs 15 million at the venue.
A source says that Mr. Hamid must have recouped shs 300m as profits.
However, it turned into a nightmare for promoter B-Club when he couldn’t access his ‘business partner’ to share dividends.
By the time of filing this report, B-Club had instructed his lawyers to seek legal redress.
